Modern Sounds Vinyl & Music is a family-run record store with shops in Boise and Twin Falls. We buy, sell, and trade new and used records across every genre, from punk to jazz and everything in between.

How it started

Derek Anderson opened the first Modern Sounds on the Boise Bench in 2019 with a simple idea: a record store where anyone can walk in, flip through the bins, and leave with something they love. After a few years of pop-ups around the Magic Valley, we opened our second shop in downtown Twin Falls in 2025, giving the area its first independent record store in more than 20 years.
